ER-5 Question

    Gentlemen,

I seek your esteemed advice once again.

I've got an ER5 which I wish to shift on and was wanting your opinion
on the best method of doing this.

It is currently SORN with no MOT. T-reg, missing one crash bar,
mismatched mirrors. It works OK, starts, stops, indicators and lights
function last time I checked and has the lowered seat for small
people. There is a rack on the back which, I have been told, is for
fitting a top box of some form. Cosmetically, it is showing its age a
bit, but no huge cracks in the plastics or anything. I have a feeling
it might need a new rear tyre to pass the MOT.

Is eBay the best route, maybe with a reserve of £400, or is this being
overly optimistic? I've genuinely no idea. I don't particularly wish
to go through the hassle of getting it taxed and MOT'd as I need the
    space sooner, rather than later.

I can supply pictures for anyone interested here, and I live in the
    Bicester area.

Any help or advice, or even cold, hard cash, would be very much
    appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

    D.

Unless you are prepared to break it, it is worth next to **** all unless it
is roadworthy. To be roadworthy it needs an MOT: most people will assume it
has something expensive wrong with it if you can't be arsed to MOT it. A
new rear tyre & MOT will cost £80, a morning of your time and repay itself
    several times over.

    Three things:

    1. get it MOTd.
    2. get it MOTd.
    3. get it MOTd.

    otherwise it's worth **** all.

I'm not very far away from you.

    Couple of options:

    1) Flog it to me cheap and I'll mot it and sell it on.
    2) Let me mot it and we split the difference in what it makes above the
£400, + pay me for any parts I have to buy.

Just yesterday I was telling someone how you appear to be on a mission
to buy any and every motorcycle that comes up for sale.

Heh. Only a few days ago you were saying you couldn't bear to part with
it. Surely you should be touting the 12R instead.

    Ha. Not true.

    I didn't enquire about Krusty's MV.

You're obviously a pikey. Actually you did enquire about the pick-up,
    so you're definitely a pikey.

What about after an extender re-lurk, though? Could there not be a
time limit after which, if one has not posted, one is deemed to be a
    lurker?

Enquiring minds would like to know. To the second, if possible, but
don't bother me with that sigma shit.

But with an extender re-lurk it'll feel like the first time all over
    again.

Like: for ages you know you want to insert your post, but can't quite
find the right moment or place to put it? Then finally you do, it's
over, and you feel slightly dirty?

You seem quite happy to suggest that everyone you know who happens to
live in the sticks should get a banjo.

It's only you and Krusty, IIRC.

Have you considered that there may be a reason?

  18. It's a very kind and generous offer, but I think I'll just MOT it and
sell it myself, having read that this is the best plan.

    Thanks, anyway.
