I Was in the local library couple of weeks ago, and found a job in a
    newspaper that suited.

I got the job ad url, scooted home, printed the application: and then
realized the closing date was the next day. Bollocks.

It was one of those 7 page jobbies where they want every previous job
    - hand written of course, and covering letters etc etc This took me
    4 hrs.

Right says I, application needs to go to London EC2, bike needs a run,
and at 21:00 the traffic should be minimal, Heh ! piece of piss.

100 yds down the road and my clutch(1) is slipping really bad.
I stop check the free play (it's got the usual Honda ring adjuster
thingie) there is about 1/4 " play.

Hmm. I make small adjustments, letting the cable out and test it.
A tiny bit better. Look at other end of cable and check cable
routing. Looks OK - don't have any tools to release lock nuts
so I decide to push on and deliver Application.

A not much fun (and hot) journey ensues, as I ride as safely as
possible, using back routes and changing up early too avoid slippage.

I get to the the address on the nice big brown A4 envelope, get off
bike, walk up to the office, and .....there's no fucking letterbox !

    I actually started giggling.

    1. Last ran the bike about a week before with no clutch problems at
    all.

  2. Go round the side or take it to the postroom 3 streets away.
Yeah, it's a right laugh, innit.

    Didn't exist unfortunately.
    Hilarious.

I managed to slide the envelope through the gap in the door (hinge side)

It fell, swooped, then banked left, and landed behind where the door would
open: a brown envelope on a brown carpet, face down.
