I've got png files associated with ACDSee, but quicktime still manages to
get involved and **** it up when using IE7. I can't remember agreeing to
let Apple install an IE plug-in, but it's there anyway. Another unwanted
and unhelpful little prog from Apple, like their iPod helper (I've never
owned an iPod, but iTunes will install it anyway).

Funny. It did that for me, too.
    Oh.

Quicktime stops you doing this, as it opens it's own context menu.

It just comes up with a contact sheet of very small pics for me, and it
    won't let me zoom in.

    Maybe it's *secret*[/QUOTE]

Step 1: Right click and save target someplace rather than opening the link
and then "open with", selecting a less irritating application.

Step 2: Uninstall quicktime while cursing the cunts who wrote that piece of
    junk.

Step 3: Realise that you also have realtime installed and uninstall that
too, while cursing the *utter* cunts who wrote that piece of junk.

Step 4: Refrain from watching/listening to any quicktime/real player
associated content for the next 5 years. Consider it a small price to pay
    and live happily ever after.

    Bonus step: install irfanview.

Didn't know that. In that caase the alternative is to open an app that can
handle png files and then open the saved file from within the app ("open
    file" or something).

Btw, that's exactly the sort of irritating behaviour I wish to never
encounter again, which is why I avoid quicktime. I don't like my apps being
    opinionated.

And is Quicktime called by IE ?

(Also note it was a statement that it works with FF, not a dig at IE or
any app in particular, not even an anti MS comment, that is else where in
the thread, so please try not to jump beofe the gun)
