Peg has been running too hot for a while now. Not a mjor issue through winter, but something I'd like to fix before summer. Anyway I knew the oil level was a bit high, so I finally got round to removing the excess. Took it for a spin and deliberatly sat idling in heavy traffic for quite a long time. Lo and behold it didn't get nearly as hot this time around. Whether I was imagining it, or a cool breeze had whipped up or if it really did cure it I'm not sure. Some googling has yielded no evidence that excessive oil levels can cause overheating. Bear in mind the Peg is a dry sump engine, and the oil is kept in this crazy frame resevoir above the engine with what appears to be a return flow at the top that was possibly being intefered with by the too-high oil level. Anyway I guess we'll see as things get warmer over the next couple of months.
