Heh, we were discussing this on another thread and Ace doesn't think
it's too bad. At the moment...

I suppose they can head north into Germany then come home through
Holland & Belgium if they fancy their chances against the local plod.
It's not as if they've not got a score to settle in Germany and
they've both got room for more points before they get banned.

they can do that at Ace's, although Holland is a bit out of the way.
Luxembourg maybe, as Hog did earlier this year from Saarbrucken. Not so
easy from Jen's, although they could get the ferry from Santander or bribe
Pete to ferry them on his trailer using Spanish derv.

  4. I had a call from Champ on Tuesday night, while I was in Switzerland.

"Nei, how easy is it to get back into the UK without a passport?"

    Bwaahahahahahaha!

At least he'll have time to get it posted to him while he waits for
    the strike to end.

"Earlier, French officials said there would be no shortages for at
least a month, and warned against panic buying."

That's bound to kick off the panic buying...

The Mazda 6 is petrol so we wouldn't get very far. I shall endeavour
to fill up again (did so today with no problem) when I get back from
Rocamadour. Does anyone know if it might affect aviation fuel. Ryanair
will probably kkep their old crates topped up in the UK anyway. If all
else fails I can take SWMBO and the lad to Limoges airport and sit it
out here. Being currently not employed has its advantages.

Nah. They don't want extra fuel on board when they take off. Take off
speed vs weight vs fuel required for trip is the maths they do. It will
be very unlikely they do the maths on there and back, fuel wise.

Any way don't Ryan Scare run on rubber bands wound by mice?

Spalsh & dash is their usual fuel strategy. However, if French airports run
out of fuel they will change that strategy. They'll be able to cash in on
other forms of transport not running, assuming the airport staff don't join
the strikes. Ticket prices rising exponentially, of course.

I was trying to say they are tight bastards and not willing to pay for
the fuel to ship the fuel which is a large part of the take-off weight.
This aviation business is full of complex maths whiach are beyond me.
French airports, being French, are inevitably going to go on strike at
    some point anyway aren't they?

That's my take on it. Air France may come to a stop, so other airlines would do
    well to cash in.

  16. Wouldn't they just use some of KLM's supplies/planes....?

I dunno, but I'd have thought that'd mean going to the Netherlands. I don't
really know how airline fuel sales works, TBH.

SWMBO hasn't had any messages from Ryanair yet saying the flight out
is cancelled. I don't suppose checking in a case full of 5 litre cans
of SP98 would go down very well. I managed to get an *indicated* 44
mpg out of the car on the Rocamadour trip. If I can get within 450
miles of Coquelles with a full tank we should be able to make the
petrol station by the tunnel exit. Looks more and more as if I will
leave the trailer here anyway, unless Champ or Krusty need to
    repatriate a bike.
