To be honest, if anyone with 'the same type of speed gun as the police'
could send 'evidence' to the CPS and on which the CPS then acted, we
would all be in the shit.

It's rather a shame they didn't just hire a Serbian with an AK-47 type 'gun
and kill the fucker...and his daughter.

TBH I'm rather pleased they didn't act on the Sun's evidence.

It's bad enough when you suspect the police themselves of displaying bias
(whether it be social, political or racial). To allow privately owned
companies to progress their masters' private agendas without recourse to
some nominally independent and accountable body is asking for fucking
    trouble.

I dispise speed cameras, but only because they have no discretion[1]. They
*can* serve a useful purpose when used correctly[2].

And the Sun (and Times and other NewsCorp-owned media outlets) are not
exactly the most honourable mouthpieces of "the public" given that they
follow the personal political agendas of an Aussie with US-acquired
nationality (so he could buy up half their media too) who whinges through
the pages of his 'free' press, for example, of the tax burden on the UK's
'honest working folk' yet pays ****-all himself (or through his companies)
as he's got enough wad to sort out all the loopholes.

To refer to one of the other posts - if this was taken further, all we'd get
is any old bored daft coffin dodger getting the, selves a radar gun and
firing off 'evidence' left right & centre and we'd all be fucked in no
    time...

The whole camera thing may be fucked up, but not all police are - I'd rather
leave it to them to 'control' speeding than a group of vigilantes....

[1] qv. the missus getting stopped for over 120-odd the other week by real
coppers - a camera wouldn't have taken the circumstances into consideration
and she'd be banned and I'd be a chauffeur by now...
[2] eg. in 30 zones/known accident blackspots where speed is a *definite*
cause of a majority of accidents

    Just bad driving I reckon.

For the past couple of months I have been bikeless and seeing the world
from a ford fiesta. There are some kin bad drivers out there that I
wouldn't have necessarily seen had I been doing my normal trick flying
past them on a bike. Far too many really.

Carelessness, stupidity and lack of skill are the majority causes of
    accidents.

Coming home tonight I was behind a car which then overtook another
vehicle on a blind left-hand bend. The driver wasn't speeding.

I've said this before - we don't need cameras to measure a vehicle's
speed, we need cameras to measure the driver's stupidity *before* they
    do something stupid.

Proper intensive driver training with retraining every 3 years and at every
    serious offence.
While they are at it, cars and ownership of should be treated like firearms
to get all the uninsured cunts off the road.

So how do you train the cunts to pay attention for longer than a
goldfish? Cos that is the problem.

You have a super tough multipass test with decent testers and observers for
    starters.

Not if cars were regulated like firearms, which they damn well should be.

I mean their ownership, distribution and identity should be as tightly
controlled and the penalties of having one unregistered should be
    commensurate.

And you're not going to bleat when the number of vehicles[1] on the road
goes down, so fuel and road taxes go through the roof to keep revenues
    up, are you?

And all the ones who can't / won't pay the higher taxes are going to...
    ?

[1] Because we're not really just talking about cars are we?
