well, today i am not very chuffed as yesterday someone attempted to take
the rsv for a joyride armed with only a screwdriver and one brain cell.
result: the ignition keyhole is all bent and fucked and i'll have to
replace all the locks on the bike.

there are a couple of other bikers that i work with who also park in the
same bay, and we're contemplating the possibility of mounting a wireless
ip-based camera on the outside of the building to keep an eye on/record
the bike bay. does the foak have any experience of such systems? looking
for some cheap recommendations, ideally 100 quid or less, that can be
    installed by numpties.

What about the company you work for, or is this a public place?

Dunno about ip cameras, but there's a bit of Mac software called (IIRC)
'evocam' which will allow you to point a camera and only have it record
when there's movement. It can then upload the shots by FTP, or send
them via e-mail. It works with USB and Firewire, though, so that (and
the distance to your bike bay) might make it impracticable.

It's something I've always fancied doing, is that. The view from our
    last place was rather sexy..

... but we didn't have the equipment then.

I must say, the Eiffel tower is a stunning structure, one of the nicest
around. Once went to Jules Verne restaurant years ago, with my missis,
    bloody nice it was.[/QUOTE]

You know the fucking depressing thing? I don't even notice it anymore.
Here I am, in one of the world's most mouthwatering cities, and I don't
    give a shit.

    Definitely time to leave.

the camera would need to communicate wirelessly with a base station located
approximately 20-25m away through two brick walls, and the base station
could then connect via ethernet, usb, or whatever.

ideally the camera would operate off batteries, although it might be a
possibility to wire it into the mains somewhere.

very good of you, although if it needs to be physically connected with a lead
it might not satisfy the requirements (see other post).

I wouldn't argue. The trouble with kiddie toerags - and that's what
this almost certainly was - is that they're too clueless actually to
nick anything and they just **** it up. A pro would have lifted it
into a van in a few seconds and buggered off.

Um, this isn't very helpful, is it?
