Just had to put my Hyosung scooter in for repair (again). In
only 12 months and 2700km it has completely worn out it's
front brake pads. The dealer wants $92 for replacing them as
they are not covered by warranty. Pissed off let me tell
you, that it should need brake pads replaced so soon. How
the hell can a vehicle that weighs 160kg with rider, that
can only do 50km/hr, go through an entire set of pads in
only 2700km, unless there is a fault with them? FFS, the
little pieces of rubber that my pushbike calls brakes last
    longer than that!

Especially annoying since the manual for the bike only lists
them as "inspect every 4000km". One would infer from that
they should at least last 4000km - probably more.

In the last 12 months the POS has been in for repair 8
times. Fuel gauge didn't work from new, so they replaced the
fuel sender. Took 2 weeks to get that done.

Then the clutch stopped engaging - go to take off at the
lights and it would freely rev. The shop said they couldn't
fault it, and it hasn't done it since they had it, but it
was doing it probably 4 out of 5 take-offs before they got it.

Then the tail-light stopped working. Not a blown bulb but an
    electrical fault.

Then the battery died, so it had no indicators, no starter.
This at just over 4 months old (apparently they cover the
battery for 4 months), so not covered by warranty and I had
to fork out nearly $100 for a new battery.

Then at about 6 months it went in for it's 1000km service.
$120 later, and it seemed to be running worse than before.

By a month after the 1000km service it was unrideable -
missing and carrying on all the time. They said the petrol
tank was rusty and replaced the fuel tank. Did it under
warranty but only after protest - at first they said it was
because I had used ethanol fuel (which I hadn't).

A few months later and the fuel gauge stopped working again.

And now the brake issue. I'm over the POS. Tempted to get
onto Dept of Fair Trading and push for a refund.

  2. Yes, you'd better before the warranty runs out.

Wow. You can actually get a dealer to service it? None of the dealers around
here will touch any bikes from Korea or China. Too many problems with them they
say. And by law any repairs or servicing has to have a workshop warranty,
something that they can't guarantee with these bikes, they say.

    Or so they say...
