I might just waste a few phone calls when it comes to voting time
because in my mind the medal winners at the Olympics have put a lot
more effort in than Hamilton has.

I'm not knocking what he's achieved and any other year he'd be a
worthy winner but the athletes at the Olympics get one go every four
years and they work for it for those four years. The only difficulty
will be deciding whether to vote for one of the cycling, yachting or
    swimming teams.

The team award's a done deal so forget that one.

What's that got to do with anything? I thought the important word in
the description was 'Personality', rather than just being the person
    who achieved most.

Not that I think that LH qualifies on that basis either...

Indeed, Chris Hoy that cyclist will get my vote. After reading an
article on how he trains I'm completely in awe.

Nothing but it's my cash going on the calls and I can use my own rules
to decide who to vote for.
He'll have to wait until Ron Dennis shows him what to do.

You make it sound like Hamilton just dropped his arse in a race car one year
and and won the title the next, but I have a suspicion that he's been
dropping his arse in a rae car for as long as he can remember.

Hamilton, deservedly, had the huge backing of Ron Dennis and Mclaren to
develop his talent from a very young age.

The likes of Rebecca Adlington and Nicole Cooke were ferried about by Mum
and Dad to the local council pool or cycle events before and after going
    to school etc.

Even at "Elite" status they would have to fit training around work/study.

No, but you can bet there's a whole team load of voices telling him
    exactly what to do.

He'll probably win more awards and he'll certainly earn more money
than any of the Olympians from earlier this year but I know who I
think is the better athlete and who I got more pleasure from seeing
    win.
