FA Halvarsson Safety Jacket

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Nicknoxx, Jul 5, 2006.

  1. The green fumes rising from the insides of them will long stick in my
memory. All that could be said for them was that they had a bit more
    cachet than wellies.

  2. I accept no responsibility for fractured metatarsals or electrocution
arising as a result of anyone taking seriously the comment I made in
    jest. :)

  3. Perhaps, until the alternative outer layer designs and colourschemes -
    expected early 2007 - arrive.

How can they take so long to make? Surely it's just a bit of dye?

  5. If only it was that simple in the mass market world. Design,
prototyping, approval, production scheduling, manufacturing. All take
time, and manufacturers prefer to time the launch of their new season's
products so they hit the shops in time for Spring.

Well yes, but it seems they are losing sales because of the lack of
range and also going to be competing in a potentially much more
competitive market when they do get round to actually releasing a wider
    choice.

It sells on the protection angle. You wouldn't consider it at that price
    for any other reason?

Well exactly - but several other companies are coming to market or
appear about to with similar products.

They will need something to differentiate themselves.

For that sort of money, were I considering spending it (which I'm not
:) ), I'd probably go for the BKS product because the leathers I've had
are superb - other than here and until recently, I'd never heard of
Halvarssons and have no idea how they compare.

OK I have looked at the BKS website. Where are the non leather
    waterproof jackets?

  12. Have you spoken with Brian Sansom recently? I have been meaning to, in
order to find out how his textile jacket project is progressing. Also,
AFAIAA, the BKS textile jacket is not claimed to be waterproof.

  14. That's their decision to make, but there are two patents covering the
Safety Suit concept, so it will be interesting to see how other
manufacturers come up with something that genuinely does compete on all
levels - other than by using some form of mechanised environmental
control system. I have been quite content recently, riding in 30+ C,
but feeling like it is only 18 C, courtesy of the full mesh outers.

  15. Well, in the lengthy period since I last spoke with Brian, for all I
know he might well have been contacted by one of the waterproof
membrane manufacturers, so that little flaw could well have been
    addressed..
