    (The Older Gentleman) spewed forth:
While I bow to your knowledge and experience, You need to do better
    than that.
Well, they need to do better.

Before I paid off my mortgage, I was giving serious consideration to a
new bike and travelled far and wide trying stuff. A mate of mine,
Steve, who fits the "average" silhouette to a "T", came along, as he
    was looking too.

We both tried all the different types/shapes/sizes/whatever that were
available from the main 4 Japanese manufacturers, as well as the
    Italians, Austrians, etc. ad nauseam.

Even Steve had difficulty. His overall conclusion was the same:
    "mostly built for pygmies".

I gave up and paid off the mortgage.

I have the same problem with cars, though...

I dunno Jack. I'm not a dwarf and I can't think of a Jap bike that I've ever
ridden or even sat on that felt too small. My Zed has always felt too big,
    in fact.

It and lots of other Jap bikes are bigger than the bikes I grew up with,
    like the Bonnie's and Goldies.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you've got a bit of an
    opinion on bike sizes.
    They've learned well from Harley.

I was telling Frag yesterday about a pal/acquantence/customer of ours. 6'6"
he is and bought (now selling) a KTM SuperDuke. He also bought a KTM RC8,
but flogged that the same week.

He looks a complete tool when he's sat astride either of them.

Ideal for the fuller figured gentleman.

I unforget Big Tony on the Frankfurt run, on his RGS Adventure. Vast
silhouette throwing shapes on the horizon. Great disturbance in the Force.
Didn't look a tool, unless the tool you're think of was an industrial
    milling machine. Immense.

As we are not dissimilar in dimension, I can see why you suggest it...
but... Is the footrest position significantly different from a B12?

If not, then I suspect I would be wasting my time.

My K1100RS is pretty damned good... and hot grips are great, if you
have the beginnings of arthritis in yer fore-paws.

I dunno what the issue is. As I've said plenty of times before, I'm 6
foot 3 and 16 stone and find my GSXR more comfortable than my Bandit.

I don't consider myself lightweight at 12 an' half stone, but I don't get
much sag on the Zed either. If any. I shudder to think what the ride would
be like f I weighed much less. I think I'd have to consider some suspension
    work.

I bet my VN would fit you perfectly, but unfortunately, I've not got round
to fitting this shedload of new engine parts to it yet.

No idea. The seat's further from the ground, though. Much.

    I'm on a diet though :)
The Zed feels much better when I've got the wife sat behind me. It (usually)
goes around corners with a lot less harshness. I like my cruiser too, coz
it's relaxing and doesn't make me want to ride like a twat all the time. I
had the seat foam replaced and re-shaped and then fited a small back rest so
I don't get the usual lower back ache associated with feet forwards riding.

I really MUST get the engine sorted this year.
    I'm going to. Definitely.

I was just flicking through a bike mag while I was having a coffee and
there's a pic in there of a geezer on his R1 sat alongside his dad on a
Trumper Speed Twin. The Trumper looked like a fucking toy in comparison to
the R1, so where this idea that Jap bikes are tiny came from, I don't know.
