  5. A quote from the article:

"The cars were stored in a secure unit in Corporation Road, Newport. The
vandals forced open the shutters and broke into the building."

Couldn't have been that secure then.

Still, what a nightmare to come to work to.

    Poor bloke must be gutted.

I reckon a large cash reward for information would be the way ahead,
followed by large doses of extreme pain.

There may be honour amongst theives, but certainly not amongst that type of
    lowlife.

Picked your post as one of many in a similar vein - what the **** is
wrong with you all that the only thing you can think of is inflicting
physical damage to the perpatrators? It's obscene, the way you all
rant and rave about the 'lowlife scum' and want them strung up, beaten
up, stitched up or any other way fucked up.

They're just a bunch of fucking kids, fer fucks sake. OK, we may not
all be in Rope's lad's league, but we all did bad things when we were
    kids, didn't we? I know I did.

Lighten up; after all, it's only metal

  11. Along with those who commit horrific crimes like speeding? Or public
    drunkeness?

As Ace said [1] - have a little bit of perspective.

    Phil.

[1] Me agreeing with Ace? What is the world coming to! I'd better hide
under the desk in case the sky falls on my head..

because they don't understand the concept of due process or the need
for a rational approach to judicial matters.

I was also rather curious as to how a 45 year old dentist had able to
afford so many classic cars, even over a period of 30 years (also odd
to starting collecting classic Jags when you're 15, methinks).

I'm sure he's never done anything wrong in his entire life, of course.

Yeah, good point. A bloody good talking to is probably all they need to set
    them straight.
True, I can recall smashing up a warehouse full of someone else's cherished
classic cars when I was a lad, I really guess I was too young to know the
difference between right and wrong, let's call it good honest fun and the
    over exuberance of youth.
Yeah, I'm sure a few bottles of T-Cut and some elbow grease will put all
that damage to rights at hardly any cost, so no real harm done.

What a good job one of the naughty kids didn't hurt themselves.

Silly me, never mind those that get so bladdered they then smash cars in my
street and windows in peoples houses and intimidate pensioners. It's just a
laugh isn't it? Oh, I did all that as a lad and a right laugh it was too.
I don't think so, I had more sense.

I have a bit of perspective, it's why the country is going to the dogs as no
one seems to give a shit.

I'd like to believe that none of the people posting such statements
(Andy excepted :) ) would actually do what they are suggesting. I think
they rather convey a sense of frustration a lot of people have towards
the perceived ineffectiveness and weakness of the justice system in the
UK. ie nothing will happen to these kids - they can just do it again.

Perhaps if you were to say, move back to the UK and be affected by some
of these such incidents (which Dan, for instance has been) you wouldn't
take quite such a sanctiminous approach?

I think there's a hell of a difference between being rebellious and
criminal damage to an extent that is nothing but mindless. *IF* the
rehabilitation, or prospects or anything else was seen to work, then
I'm sure we would have less of the "String them up" posts.

Do you think living in Swissland has perhaps lulled you into thinking
    everywhere has it as good?
