Driving his car on the road, unlicenced and uninsured possibly.

Whilst not in quite the same league, a similar outcome could have resulted.

Not necessarily. In all probability it started off as something as
simple as a minor break-in to rob the petty cash and they (I assume
they) then found a bunch of keys and it rapidly escalated beyond their
inability to control the heady mix of testosterone and adrenaline.

This group really has gone to the dogs. I'm struggling to believe that
more than one person thinks the majority are over reacting and who
gives a **** about some Welsh cunts collection of old bangers.

Just muggings, murders and rapes. The streets of London are indeed
paved with gold for our Foreign tourists.
Lookin' forward to it already ;-)

No - yes an accident could have occurred, for which he would not be
covered. Potential damage and loss of life even. But that would be an
*accident* - his intention is not to go and destroy other people's
property (not that I know him but keep this is a fair assumption).

    <patronising voice>
You were doing very well up until then Dan - I was in full agreement
    with your earlier post.

Heh, I must admit I wasn't too bothered by the whole thing until I saw the
photos of the cars. The old scrappy ones, well, so what, but the E-Type
embedded in the fence, what a bloody shame. Mind you, I was pretty much
fucking raging when I found my lad's moped slightly battered in a snowy
field and vowed vengeance. Needles to say I never did anything (neither did
    the law either).

I think you are probably right in your summing up, and TBH, I don't really
have any aspirations to move outside of the UK, so it can't be all bad.
Fortunately, where I live isn't exactly a high crime area, and on the whole
most people I encounter on a day to day basis are pretty much decent, I
think the trick is to avoid the scrotes.

Question: Do you think there really is more of this mindless anti social
stuff going on these days than when we were teenagers (we're roughly similar
ages), or is it just a case that it's more widely publicised? Actually,
this thread sort of answers that one, if it weren't for the interweb I
prolly would never have got to hear about the subject. It's similar to the
apparent increase of kiddy fiddlers. When I was very young (aged 7
upwards), during the school holidays every day I would be out with mates on
the common, and never felt unsafe. Nowadays, as a parent, allowing such
freedom would prolly result in a visit from social services.

    Ho hum.

    Sorry, and apologies to Rob.

My fingers were on the keyboard and hitting the send button before my brain
    was fully engaged.

Teenagers do stupid things, as long as no malice is intended they can't be
    all bad.

Of course you and everybody else is assuming that this was done by teenage
"yobs". It might have been quite young children. It might have been an
enraged ex-wife or a disgruntled ex-business partner. It might have been
somebody elsewith a grudge against him. It might even have been the bloke
    himself (insurance claim?).

  16. You're missing the point here. A car, or even a bike, is just another
consumer durable. A classic, something you've slaved over, worked on,
restored, is different. A classic collection is the same x a lot more.

In many cases, your heart and soul goes into things like this. It's a
    lot more personal.

If the Trumf got destroyed I'd be narked. If the Ducati got destroyed
I'd be immensely narked. If the 400 Four got destroyed I'd be
heartbroken. And out for blood, whether or not I'd actually have the
time, inclination, contacts and balls to inflict such violence.

Alvis dropheads were usually bodied by outside coachbuilding companies,
like AP Metalcraft etc, in much the same way that Mulliner Park Ward
and Hoopers made bodies for Rolls Royce cars. AP Metalcraft were Alvis'
favoured coachbuilders. Alvis at Coventry made their own bodies for the
saloon cars and fitted them at factory, but drophead models were
supplied as a rolling chassis to the coachbuilders. Their customer got a
choice of styles depending where the chassis was sent.

  19. Very few of them look as though they're smashed beyond repair.
I'd be more interested in punishing the **** that took the indoor pics.
    Utterly diabolical.

    They're only shiteoldmotors.

Where did I say that? Ace said "it's the same argument used the etc etc
and is equally flawed" - it's flawed in his opinion - it doesn't mean
    it's _definitely_ flawed.

FWIW, yes, I do support capital punishment.

Does that make me a bad person? Maybe. I don't care - that's my opinion.
