steve auvache emerged from their own little world to say
Mine disappeared at Drayton Manor whilst I was paying for our ice creams. I
think he was 7. I found him slowly making his way back to the car. I've
still no idea where he went for those 90 minutes as his comment at the time
was, "I went for a walk" and if asked now says, "I don't remember".

He's never done it since. I think it must've registered how distressed I
    was.

Well, Robin Cooke was told to dump his wife (IIRC when they were about
    to leave Heathrow) on holiday.

Wonder if Tessa Jowell was given similar instructions?

I'd just sell one of those in a local pub.

  4. It's the universal language of scum - they adopt it from Eastenders. Either
that or they pretend they're black and living in the Bronx: "There's lovely,
    ma' niggah".

  5. Not even if you had a huge collection of immaculate, very valuable GSX's
that you'd spent a lot of time and money collecting? You might be tempted to
dish out your own if you actually saw them at it.

The problem, and the likely cause of what seems like an over-reaction by the
hang-them-by-the-bollox brigade, is that we know full well that if the
little darlings were to be caught their punishment would be very light.

It's lack of thinking that causes the reaction, not any preconception of
what the punishment is, or should be.

It doesn't exactly please me either. I didn't post it as a brag. I
posted to let my thoughts on the shit way we as victims of crime are
treated and how sometimes matters will be taken into our own hands. If
the criminal justice system in this country did its job properly then
there wouldn't be this sort of thing happening. I don't enjoy breaking
hands, but if it stops my property getting stolen then I'll do it again.

I disagree, a good 4.2 Roadster with the top down in summer is a hoot to
drive, cos they slide all over the place and go quite well. Shite
handling and lousy brakes help make it an experience too. 3.8s aren't
bad, but the gearbox spoils the overall drive.

V12s are fucking horrible to drive, there's too much weight up front and
they push on in a straight line if you try to corner on anything
resembling an open throttle. They aren't that quick either, being
strangled to suit the EPA in US.

Pound it flat with a sledgehammer to confound the ballistics lot, then just
chuck it in a river somewhere.

  11. Sea would be better, nicely rusted away.

To get back to my original point, I wonder just how much damming
evidence was disposed of in steel furnaces. It's something we'll never
know, but when I was a lad the job I had at the local steelworks brought
me into daily contact with the open hearth type of furnace and it
    occurred to me...

A mate of mine worked at George Fisher Castings in Bedford, he invited
me along to show me how they disposed of old cars. Crane, car, steel
    furnace....simple.

If you broaden that to "15-25 males" then that statement was probably
true going back to when Moses was in short pants

I'll bet the Jaguar design team didn't think that when they completed
their design brief. Funnily enough nor did the general public at the
    time.

  19. You may well be correct but that doesn't correlate to the statements
above that a) the figures have been stable since the '60s and b) most
harm is done by their own family.

Surely, if your hypothesis was correct, we would see a skewing of the
figures as people become more reluctant[1] to let little Jimmy out of
their sight, so they have less exposure to strangers but increased
    exposure to their "dangerous" families?

[1]There certainly seems to be an increased reluctance since my
childhood but that could be selective memory on my part along with the
long, hot summers and huge snowfalls.

The same can be said for any road vehicle but I'd put money on it that
performance bikes have come a lot further than performance cars over
    the same period.
