What can one use to rejuvinate black plastic such as chaing guards,
    instrument surrounds and rear guards.

I've tried armorall, mr sheen and furniture polishes only to fade
    after 2 weeks.

  2. I use a product called 303. Seems to work better than Armourall but still
    needs to be replied.

I once had a chat with an automotive spray-painter about this exact topic.
He said there are some semi-flexible paints that "bond" with most plastics
and come in most colours and textures (semi gloss, matt etc). They're not
cheap though and he said the only people who want it used are vintage car
restorers who want the bumpers, dash-boards etc to look like new but still
    be original.

He didn't mention brands or anything, but maybe a auto paint supplier might
    be of assistance.

Paint. Satin black acrylic touch-up spray cans. Shake till your arm falls
off. Spray with other arm. Perfect. Also perfect for switchchblocks...That's
*Satin* black. Not gloss, not matt. Satin.

    (Remove pieces before painting...)

    Hey vifer,
Hate to tell you this, but Mr Sheen ( John Howard) got kero in it and will
kill your paint and plastic over a short period of time. You should never
use the stuff on paint work as it will absorb into the paint and f@#k it.
Not sure about the technical term , maybe your local spray painter can
explan it to you. A good spray for most plastics is SO EASY from CRC. Its
made as a spray on tyre cleaner that works real good on most rubber and
plastic items. But like they say , YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR..Dont buy cheap
as it will cost you in the long run.

One switchblock on the VT250 had gone white from weathering when I got
it. I used Inox which almost got it back to black. Lasts pretty well too.

Are you trying to say satin? I certainly wouldn't trust matt with a paint
