I have a ticket. I WILL be coming. I depart May 31st, arriving in
Germany next day, and riding the R12GS. I will attempt to stay on the
correct side of the road, but no promises. It seems I'll be just a tad
too late for the IoM. Drat. I don't have an itinerary and am open to
suggestions. (ahem - I don't think _that_ place is in the British
Isles, though.) Seven weeks should get me around a fair bit. Right
now, the only places on my list are John o' Groats, Lands End,
Ireland, the Ace cafe, the Tate, and a couple of other old haunts in
    London.

Unfortunately, I don't think my duffel will hold a GW faring, but
there'll be room for something smaller, prolly, if requested. Smith &
    Wessons excluded, of course.

I'll deffo come with you to the Ace, never been there myself. I'm sure
others will go with you to the Tate. You know you can stay with us here.

You'll find Newcastle-upon-Tyne, happily close to the Yorkshire Dales
and Northumberland, about half-way between the two. Well worth a
visit, even without the bed on offer.

I lied. There is a general plan to do a lap of the island, which
certainly would include that place with the funny words. I want to see
if Adny Woodwrad was right when he said there are no straight roads
    there.

Cool. That's a bit of a surprise. I guess a better question might be,
are there any places I should _not_ go? As in, horrible tourist
traffic, nothing of interest, ridiculously overpriced, etc.

What, are you waiting for the weather to clear up? It had better be
sunny while I'm there or I'll file a formal complaint.

Thanks, all, for the offers of hospitality. I'll try not to abuse it
    too much.

BTW, in light of the other insurance thread, if anyone knows of good
options for tourists, I'm all ears. Last year, I paid 315€ for 3
months through ADAC in Germany. That hurt.

Once north of Manchester/Leeds you're pretty much ok. Sure, places
like the Lake District and Edinburgh get crowded and touristy but not,
IMHO, to the extent that you should avoid them - particularly if
    you're on a bike.

Stonehenge. If you absolutely must see some rocks, go to Avebury
instead. It's bigger, fewer crowded, & most importantly of all, there's
    a pub in the middle.

Yebbut they let the sheep graze there don't they. You'd better take a pair
of stilts if you want to walk around the stones.
