Anyone hitting that on Sunday?
It'd be a bit daft to cough up 40 quid and not spend the whole day inside the base. I think you're understanding the pikeyness of watching from outside, too. You gypo skank.
I was thinking of doing that too if the weather's good. The road up through Dunfield on the south of the airfield looked like the best option, if it's not closed off.
It is indeed, but trees are a bit of a **** and you don't exactly get the close-up view when you're hanging around outside the perimeter, sipping weak lemon squash from a thermos and eating warm cucumber sarnies because 5 quid for a hog roast inside the fence might affect your ability to pay the mortgage. YMMV.
Actually yeah, still do by the looks. I still prefer the setup at Waddington as they let you pay on the gate.
"Royal International Air Tattoo No Locations No Dates More Info" They did that at Fairford til 2007 but in 2008 after it got flooded off and there was a bit of a mad rush for entry on the Sunday (also flooded) they changed it to advance sales only. Could do Farnborough, I suppose, but it's something of a poor cousin.
When I was in the ATC we got to go to that to help people park their cars. Deep Joy. Mind you watching the Lightning perform was something else. -- Malc Rusted and ropy. Dog-eared old copy. Vintage and classic, or just plain Jurassic: all words to describe me.
I would have thought it would be or at least parking would be severely restricted. I would have thought the road through Marston Hill to the Ash Copse (SU140985) would be better. But then I've not tried the pikey option before. I might give it a go this year if the weather is fine.
