Because he was doing the job properly?
And of course, no one has EVER tried to tell a bit of a prokie to avoid
    paying tax, have they?
    Yes.

I'd say. The fire that "accidentally" started the week after your case had
    cooled off maybe?

**** off. He did a PNC check, and knew the car belonged to me before he
'cautioned' my daughter. He's a social inadequate getting off on
    feelings of power.
Well, who did the car belong to? My daughter or I? She's an 18 year
old, well spoken girl- hardly likely to be party to this sort of chavish
chicanery designed to save 120 quid.

Right or wrong, it's utterly fucking pointless. Lazy **** didn't even
    give my daughter a producer.

I've just re-read your original post on this and the plod did exactly what
plod does. Pulled some burd (for whatever reason), noticed there was no tax
and did what a plod does. He cautioned her and sent her on her way.

I really can't see why you're so fucked off about it. Would YOU take no
notice if you were a plod-a-like and saw an untaxed vehicle?. Plainly, would
you ****-as-like, you'd caution the driver and **** him/her off.

What exactly do you think he SHOULD have done?

    [A] Ignore the offence
Give her a producer as well
[C] Have the car impounded until she could show proof of tax and ins?

  7. Ah... Got it...

I certainly wasn't too upset when the water board compulsory purchased
her house (allegedly to extend the sewage works - which then closed and
the WB resold the house 3 or 4 years later as a pub).

I'd have wanted a major cut of the profits from that sale.

When I bought the Leon it was, like all vehicles for sale seem to be
these days, untaxed. It was also just coming up for the end of the
month. When the insurance docs came through a few days later the month
had rolled over and the counter bods at the post office wouldn't let me
go legit by buying a tax disc back-dated to the start of the month I
bought it, they'd only sell me one for the current month.

    As you say, Grr.
