It's been possible to build one from scratch for years. My
parents/brother have all the parts in stock (at generally lower cost
than the VOC spares company, natch), & costed it out once at approx.
15k. I'm not sure if that was using trade or retail prices though.

As for whether it's really a Vincent or not - well that's open to
debate. Many of the parts are made for my parents using original
drawings & in some cases original tooling, but obviously they're not
made by Vincent. Other parts are identical to the originals but made
using reverse engineering; others are different to the originals but do
    a better job.

Needless to say there are many, many bikes out there that are
considered genuine Vincents, but like the proverbial broom, are on
    their 5th handle & 12th head.

If I were going to build one from scratch *to* *use*, I'd far rather
use updated, improved parts or go down the RTV route than try to make
    an original 'fake'.

What's the informed opinion, within the Vincent world, of Patrick Godet's
Egli-Vincent replicas, reinterpretations or whatever? I feel sure that he
would be one of the first people I would call, on finding the all that gold
at the end of the rainbow.

  3. 15k? Is that all?? Even if you add a decent margin for retail it's still
not an awful lot of money, must be a market for some kind of kit.

I can imagine the VOC snobs hating that, but to be fair when my Dad had
his Comet and we went to the VOC days at Cadwell they were a very
friendly bunch, and the mag was always a laugh.

I don't know I'm afraid - I have little to do with the Vincent world.
Anyway I'd probably just tell you what I thought you wanted to hear, as
    Patrick's a long-time family friend[1].
    A wise decision.

    [1] Does that make me a name-dropping **** too?

Well, it's more an opinion of the engineering quality I was interested in,
rather than a 'precious' view on whether or not they are authentic. Of
course they're not authentic, but they appear to be gorgeous machines paying
tribute to a classic, but with carefully considered improvements.
    No. Keep trying.

Ah right - my mistake. The engineering is superb.
OK. Phil Irving was too, as is Terry Prince & Fritz Egli. Is that any
    better?

  9. There's no fucking way that heap of shite would ever pass an SVA, even
if some deluded buyer stuck lights on it. It just breaks so many regs
for passenger/rider safety it would be laughed out of the SVA centre.

So yes, he's a lying **** of the fuckwit kind.

But it still wouldn't be a Vincent. Now would it? Hmm?
You're always right. Except for when you're wrong.

Actually, I'm not in the market at the moment. Unless the right thing
    drops into my lap.

Oh yes, I meant to say.

The MT01 is butt fucking ugly.

It's the ugliest thing I've seen since I was last in a bathroom.

    Even I have my limits.

And the MT01 is beyond them, purely aesthetically.

    You should buy my B12.
It will try and kill you without the aid of other vehicles.

  16. When your medical need for a Vincent is satisfied - CIHAGM?

I had a ride on my Dads Comet[1], which underwhelmed me a bit, I was
changing down for corners which was a bit stupid - but to be fair I'd
just stepped off my RD350. Meanwhile he fucked off on my RD and said "it
really gets going about 3k doesn't it, I didn't take it over 5k" , "err
yes Dad" said I, as I struggled and gave up trying to find neutral on
the Comet, thank buggery for valve lifters.

[1] I still cant believe the bastard sold it, that was my
    inheritance!!!!
