I have used up all the Castrol 10w-60 that the nice folk at Castrol
Classic oils supplied by post, and am pretty certain that I will need to
top up the French Tart again before I can organise new supplies.

So if push comes to shove which would be better:

    1. Top notch bike specific oil fully synthetic but can't find anything
    with a viscosity range > 40
    2. Something with a range up to at least 50 viscosity. Problem being
that most of this seems to mineral stuff be aimed at pikey old banger
cars (at least that to be obtained quickly off the self).

As it is dry sump I could perhaps risk running it short of a couple of
hundred cc and it not be the end of the world I suppose, and it will be
getting an oil change chez point de corde in less than 200 miles anyway.

If you've got an MV dealer nearby they should stock <something>W55
synthetic bike oil - probably Agip.

    Thanks for that.

Chapel Ash Harley Davidson have already obliged once with a replacement
indicator lens (Buell item), so I will give them a bell thanks.

Always tried to use Morris Golden Film outboard oil in the 'Rotarini',
    if not that then Badahl.

There is a thread on the VFC forum about Motul withdrawing their 15w-60
(Voxan) special oil, so a suitable alternative other than the Castrol is
    always worth investigating.

The reason for the high viscosity or Motul specific additives is cam
wear. They run very, very hot. Really need an oil cooler. Mine has a
'kit evo' with uprated cam chain guides and bigger oil metering jets to
the heads. Even so the VCF FOAK reckon that trick oil is a must to
ensure no problems if thrashed. It sounded a tiny bit tinkly at the end
of the Cadwell day and needed a worrying amount of oil (which eliminated
the tinkle). Oh well, patrick's head mecano will have a good look and
listen before long so fingers crossed.

Panic over. My emporium of choice for all things motorcycle clothing or
accessory wise had some Motul 15W-50 Race on the shelf. All it lacks to
be perfect is the (Voxan) to indicate the specific special additives.

They also had some v. nice end of range Sidi boots in Voxan blue. But
    that is another story.
