Yah... shitty lines too... particuarly the front guy.

    Straight line into the corner...
pulling hard on the brakes and then power out.

He must think he's riding a two stroke GP bike because he seems to be
trying to rear wheel steer LOL

I've been near a few people like that before, best to avoid them...
accident waiting to happen that sort of cornering style is.

The rear guy looks a little smoother (not great), but it's hard to tell
because we don't get to see his bike just the helmet shot.

Dunno what ever happened to smooth cornering lines... don't see it so
    much these days :-/

Unless I'm speaking a different language to you Paul, I think that
continental mass could be the "Europe" to which I referred...
Certainly, but that doesn't mean the riders weren't Pommies (doesn't
    prove they are either).

Yeah he was in a position to overtake a number of times - from the
helmet cam POV his lines seemed better. Hard to tell though.
High corner speed and a focus on smoothness is the quickest style for
underpowered bikes with poor brakes... Lightweight, High HP bikes with
serious brakes are quickest with a somewhat more corner exit speed
focussed style - Daron could give better info on this than me though -
almost all of my bikes have been from the modest HP/light-ish weight or
high HP/porky section of the supermarket.

Smoothness matters but the quick guys on the R1's etc do seem to carry
less corner speed and square off the corners more than say a 250 smoker does

(but I will have use of an 05 R1 over Xmas :)

Hmm OK, well he certainly has better credentials than I do ! But still,
looking at the way he was riding, would YOU have expected him to crash ?
(I was certainly waiting for one)

Classic style went out years ago once tyres, frame, suspension and HP
supported the early quick steer/power out style...

No Mike Hailwood-styles winning GP's (or any contemporary bike races at your
    local circuit on any weekend)

    I believe you ! I didn't say they weren't.

You've snipped the bit where I said they're probably Pommies in Europe...

    Yeah you're definitely right.

    http://www.fastbikesmag.com/sb_gmason.htm

And the guy on the vid is referred to as a "fast bikes" tester somewhere
in one of the vid's webpages.

Well all I can say is, if it was me on the Duc I'd have been hanging
further back behind someone riding like that, it smelt like a crash
    coming to me.

    (maybe I'm over cautious)

For the big classes, this is true.
Well, actually, there are, but few Ozzies seem to care about anything
except the big power, rush upto corner, slow a bit then blast out, business.

The 125 GP's still use "classic" lines round corners, and carry a higher
cornering speed than the big bikes.

The 250's still corner using more like the "classic" lines of old.

    Is this progress.....dunno <shrug>

Nice and handy that, being able to ride to another country, commit all
your traffic offences on video there, then return to your own country
and sell your video without fear of reprisal from the police or
    government.

It's a pommie mag, Fast Bikes but I believe this test was done in the South
    of France and through Spain.

The vid dates back to 1998, though. At the time, he'd only been riding
on the road for a matter of months.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's his brother who's supposed to
have been the gun mx rider...
The story goes that when Shane Byrne got picked up by Harris to ride BSB
for the 2000 season, his contract explicitly forbade him to do any more
    road tests for Fast Bikes.

Like almost every other FB vid, Dream Twins is pretty much a triumph
(insofar as nobody ever dies) of raw talent over everything else...
