I have a feeling that someone's altered that clip to make it look like
he accelerated a lot faster than he actually did

Hmm. Where's the speed sensor on uber-sprotbikes these days? A quick
clicky on the pause button shows 92 (mph?) at 1:16, then 4 seconds later
179 (mph). I guess that's possible in theory?

Only 189, but on the wrong side of the road. What do you say, Cab?
    *UK*rm? Ah, merde...

Now, how long do they keep the tapes of all the CCTV cameras out there?
Is the police going to reconcile the video and the tapes(*) to see if
    one shows a licence plate?

I'd say the clutch is slipping like ****. If you mute the screams it
does look like it's accelerating properly. Later on when he sets off
from a junction, at about 2:22, is it just me or is there a whoosh
noise? Turbo'ed bike, but (for whatever reason) didn't uprate the
    clutch?

Nothing would accelerate that fast without hoisting one hell of a
    wheelie.

I don't think the speedo is indicating anything near the actual speed.
It seems to fluctuate with the revs. Muting it made it appear far more
    normal.

He's going south then turning right round the roundabout into Daglingworth,
    I believe?

Bike of 200kg, rider 70kg, total mass 270kg

    179mph is about 80m/s, 92mph is about 41m/s

    Initial KE = 1/2 mv^2 = 1/2 * 270 * 41 * 41 = 226935J
    Final KE = 1/2 nv^w = 1/2 * 270 * 80 * 80 = 864000J

    Change in kinetic energy is 864000 - 226935 = 637065J, over 4 seconds =
159225W = about 213 horsepower. At the back wheel. And we haven't even done
    wind resistance yet.

Ok my fizzics is rusty to say the least. Ignoring wind resistance and
other friction etc., then isn't the horsepower to go from 0-90 the same
as going from 90-180? Cos the KE is related to v^2, the obv. not, just
can't get my head around that. Applying the same formula gives me about
40HP to go from 0-90 in 4 secs, and I know my Beeza can't do that.

A straight cut'n'paste of the above would probably do the job.

TBH if you look at the rev counter just visible round the outside of the
dial, and the shift light, and listen to the sound of the engine: either he's
spinning the back wheel (which seems improbable at that speed - maybe some of
the UKRM speed demons could comment?) or he's doing something weird with the
clutch (but then how would the speedo reading climb so far...).

First clip like that that I've seen that actually looks real.

His speedo relative to traffic is accurate for a 70mph dual
carriageway. And they really do accelerate like that. But his 189
will only be about 175 actual.

I would have said a turbo'ed Hayabusa would probably fit those
figures, but given it's a ZX10 I call "kph speedo".

Having re-watched, I reckon the footage has been cut during the
    accelerating.

    Ben says...
It jumps from 135 to 165 far too quickly. I've ridden Danny's race ZX10R
[1] a few times, and while it may be bloody fast, it ain't *that* sort
    of fast.

[1] And his is one of the 'real man's' ZX10s, an 04 model.

That could be another explanation - that it's a ZX10 that's been "breathed
on", which might cover the ludicrous wheelspin at speed. It also sounds
rough as a badger's arse at low speeds, but maybe all Kawasakis are like that

It's the assumption the rider is 70Kg that's funny.

Is it me, or does the indicator light look a bit "fast" too?
