Sweden are trying to ban Motorcycles!

I love smoking, drinking, eating, riding my bike and many, many, many other
things that are said to be bad. Do I care, Do I ****!

    You had that too, eh?

My mother was as bad, she'd give my Dad - who was piling on weight at an
alarming rate having given up smoking - a fucking great portion of
dinner, and I'd have to make do with **** all "Because you're smaller
you don't need as much". The fat **** really did need to lose weight and
I was desperately skinny and very unhappy about it. I left home at 16 to
join the army and get some proper food in me, that's how bad it was.

I hate fat kids too, burn the cunts and their inconsiderate parents I
say. Or chop them up and feed them to the skinny kids.

*foie* gras. We have a foie gras museum just down the road (it's a big-ish
industry in these parts...). They pride themselves on being a working
museum and boast about being a 'humane' farm as they don't use mechanical
devices to force feed the ducks and geese.

Oh no! They're very humane as they stick to the traditional funnel and big
stick method of forcing the grain down...

That said I don't really like the stuff - lovely flavour, but nasty texture.

Magret de canard[1], however, I *do* like. Very big, very juicy, very very
tasty..... Show it to the pan so it's still pink in the centre then slice
    it finely over fresh salad.[2]

[1] Basically the pumped up duck breast taken from the foie gras birds - no
exercise, loads of food, about as big as a decent turkey breast fillet, but
    far tastier.
[2] Or bbq the **** out of it and have something with the flavour of a
steak, but the texture of poultry

The Basque locals prepare a fois gras with apple sauce that is something
    rather special.

  10. Isn't that what Mr Blair is doing on a whole range of issues? Even
though it is a cack handed compromise too much of the time.
Who said anything about regulation? The government simply needs to
change a cross section of its policies and divert some money from things
that are pointless to things that will deliver genuine long term benefit
and save money in the long run. And yes I know I said long term and yes
governments plan in 4 year time horizons but frankly this is all too
important and the benefits to people are such that the parties
developing a consensus position is to be commended. If they can do it
in France or Germany or Sweden or Denmark why not here?

Who said we have to be bemused onlookers?

Too fucking right you can't. There's no way you could get away with
making pate out of fat kids.

I thank my lucky stars that the French have the vision to look past the
short-term suffering of a few low-grade animals for the greater good.

    Well on reflection perhaps not.
I see I have failed to positively engage the BHaLC chief whip so perhaps
    not.

The factors that come together on this issue are things I've felt
strongly about for many years - ever since learning that the Labour
government back in the late seventies binned an important initiative on
preventative health care and better diets / nutrition. We then had the
Tories for 18 years and now we've got a food industry that is in large
part killing us (quietly) and a government that can't be bothered to act
despite the crisis that is sitting on its doorstep. Politics at its
absolute worst as the only people who are paying the price are the
    voters.

I say all of that despite being a fat lazy lump.

Actually, that's not true. I knew that one. Not because I've had it, but
because I fancy it simply since it's a *lovely* word IMHO. Oh, and it's
(apparently) the root of the word and conserve 'Marmalade' whcih is devine
    in most of it's incarnations.

The best thing about fat kids is the crackling. They're entirely
    self-basting.

Helmut the Kohl has something to answer there, with his favourite food
