£62 from H-G - I have to say I was shocked. -- jeremy '02 Fazer 600 in blue _______________________________________ jeremy at hireserve dot com
There seems to be a wide range of prices for batteries, unfortunately this is toward the top end. -- jeremy '02 Fazer 600 in blue _______________________________________ jeremy at hireserve dot com
Jeremy emerged from their own little world to say http://www.motorbikebatteries.co.uk/ £32 pattern £63 OE Yuasa Both sealed, gel type What make is the H-G one?
"LANDPORT" sealed. If I'd realised I needed a new battery earlier, I'd have shopped around but did need to get sorted before Thursday. That'll teach me to procrastinate. -- jeremy '02 Fazer 600 in blue _______________________________________ jeremy at hireserve dot com
I paid not much more than half that for my Thundercat battery. Sounds a bit on the pricey side to me -- Alex Hermes: "We can't afford that! Especially not Zoidberg!" Zoidberg: "They took away my credit cards!" www.drzoidberg.co.uk www.sffh.co.uk www.ebayfaq.co.uk
Dr Zoidberg wrote It is where HG make their money innit, the odds and sods. I am of the opinion that they are the place to shop for clothing but Soper's are still going to be the ones selling me plugs, oil and anodised nuts and bolts.
Including VAT, a bargain I say. I had to order a battery for the K75S from motobins a couple of weeks ago [1][2] £47, add the post at £6.00 and the acid from a local factors at £3 and the hassle of taking the battery to the local factors etc. [1] Hein Gericke only had the GS battery which didn't fit. [2] No point in having an optimate on the bike if you don't check the fluid level. Buckled plate in one cell :-(
Jeremy says... Fucking pricey for a Landport. You can get a Yuasa or a Varta for that much if you look around. HG are obviously dropping their standards in order to make a fast buck.
Donald emerged from their own little world to say Why didn't you get a sealed MF one? No faffing about with acid.
The battery on Elly's ZX-9R went phut last week. I strolled into my local Proper Car Parts Shop (the one with the ceiling festtoned with head gasket sets, wiper blades and assorted gubbins) and picked up a dry-charged battery with acid pack. £17.99 on the box, fifteen to me. OK, it's a POS but it does the biz, has a two-year warranty and got me out of a hole - for 15 quid.
The battery is quite car like at 30Ah 300A EN starting current. Couldn't see anything in gel or sealed with similar characteristics. Besides I'd just paid out for a new rear master cylinder too. All on a bike I haven't ridden for two years. Time to MOT and sell I think.
With all of these things there's the "quick I need it now" price, the average normal price (which I think this comes under) and the hunt and find bargain price. You occasionally get the "stumble on a bargain at the right time" price too. With most "not very often but critical" things like the battery I would be happy if I got the average normal price.
