Her indoors is away on respite so the bikes are coming out of the garage
    one by one.

Today was the turn of the GS500 - it now has some smart engine bars,
balanced carbs, charged battery and a few little tank scratches touched up.
Tomorrow it will get a good dose of Autoglym to make it shine once the
touchup paint has had time to harden.

Balancing the carbs is a BASTARD, the LH vacuum blanking rubber is
totally concealed so the airbox and carbs have to come out to fit
the Carbtune pipes, refit, adjust, remove, refit blanking plug,
refit carbs, refit airbox. What a bloody silly hassle.

I am not sure what to do about the side panels below the seat, there
are a few marks caused by the throwovers. Silver touchup is not a
problem but it will only get marked again so I will probably just
leave them until I sell it.

on my lovely[1] TDM850 the carb vacuum doobries were inaccessible too.
Yamaha fitted some rubber hoses to said doobries, which ran under the tank
and were accessible under the seat. I never used them as I got someone else
to service the bike but their existence made fitting a Scottoiler a doddle.
So, why don't you leave a length of hose connected to the carb doobry?
