well, it's not "good", but not as bad is it sounds. My team in London
is only me + 6 others, 2 of whom have their contracts finishing today.
The rest (15) of my team are in Paris.

I dunno, I've seen the QI CIN specials before and they don't **** with
    the format too much.

Doh. I misread it as FNWJR.

    I remain unconvinced.
Ah, indeed. That's occasionally watchable in small doses.

Moronic drivel, even by my lowly standards.

hollow laughter regarding your "in writing" comment.

Remember: I work for the French. 5 months later, I still haven't even
had an official written confirmation that I've changed jobs.

A few years ago I was staying with friends in Gildersome, prior to
going to the holy stadium that is Elland Road, and we went to some do
in the local pub as a friend of a friend (who is a beautician) was
waxing some bloke's legs "for charidee".

After it was done, his legs were red-raw and totally swollen. I don't
know whether that was unusual or not (he was a bit er...hairy) but
having seen that I certainly wouldn't have my legs waxed for any bloody
    money.

    I know.

The kicker is that it's not enterprise-wide, just within the new IS
structure. The cunts who've actually lost the company money will
probably still get large pay-rises and >5 figure bonuses.

I've seen this pattern repeated for several years in a row, and much
like you, the lure of a redundancy pay out is one of the few things
that makes it worth hanging about, for now.

Plus the fact hacking and burning to increase profitability seems to
be the only view a lot of executives are taking these days, so only
the names and scenery might be different elsewhere. I know a
colleague is hugely relieved he didn't take a recent job offer from BT
    Global services..

Or, when they tell you they're moving your office by almost 60 miles and
since your salary is "globally benchmarked" there's no chance of a
salary review and because of your seniority redundancy isn't on offer.

I could go on. For hours.

However if it was really crap I'd leave. Nothing will persuade me to go
back to working for under-funded small companies where I used to worry I
couldn't run the wages bill and the end of the month and used to pay
cheques into the company accont 'tactically' to avoid the owners seeing
the balance and moving it before it could go on wages.
