Interesting factiod... it's illegal for them to rattle the tin.

I could make a long and reasoned post. But I can't be arsed.

Losses made were not trading losses, they were accounting losses based
on writing down goodwill. Goodwill purchased using paper- i.e.
shareholder equity not cash. Cash flow's good and that's what's paying
my salary and some of my bonus.

12 with current mob. I can believe it. Feels like longer, completely
    institutionalised.

  4. Seven, here. Isn't it odd how the jobs you take 'just to fill in , for a
year or two...' end up to be the long-lasting ones, whereas the ones you
think: "Right, I'm going be nicely settled here for years' don't work
    out that way?

11 total with mine. First 3 contracting, then 2 permie, then made
redundant, then back after 7 months for another couple of years
    contracting, then permie again.

    Hmm - contractor - permie - redundant - contractor - permie - ...?

  6. I took the current job 6-1/2 years ago because otherwise I'd be an
illegal immigrant. Now I've got permanant residency and been assigned to
developing apparatus that's scheduled for installation somewhere around 2018...

I'd never watched that, mainly because I can't stand Harry Hill.
However I've forced myself to watch it for the last 10 minutes, & can
only assume that 'worth watching' is some form of code for 'worth
driving down to the TV studio & smashing the speccy twat's skull in'.

I'm 'generally' happy. It goes up and it goes down. Move to London's
now accepted so stress levels down over that. But then my Director
decides (at four days fecking notice) that I've got to go to Tokyo. For
8 hours of meetings over a couple of days. Bah.

Can't even fly BA anymore for this one.

    Seven? Blimey. That's rather shocking.

You know, I've only had five jobs in total. Left the first one due to
the company going bankrupt, the second one for career reasons, the third
one because I thought cellular was where I wanted to work and the fourth
one because my boss was an arsehole.

  13. I liked the system in Adelaide when I was there. Charity
collectors could only man the streets on Friday, and the charities were
allotted individual Fridays by some central authority -- larger charities
like Red Cross got more than one day per year. Charity collectors were
not allowed to solicit -- you had to approach them.

He was much funnier on the Radio than he is on TV. Can't really bear
    him on TV.

There was some write down, but when there was a massive loss memory
tells me it was mainly the effect of the goodwill from the Mannesmann
    merger.

About as funny as a road accident. After seeing little bits on odd
occasions I give it a good miss.
Would have been simpler just to run full tilt onto a brick wall.

Heh. Guess I'm trying to convince myself!
Hmm. Well I don't mind the London thing for the first 18 months. I do
mind it after then because I lose my travel allowance (which will
basically end up being spent on hotels- I'm starting to discount the
daily commute either on a bike or train)
BA's £5,400 JAL is £3900. For a 'similar' service i.e. club class, flat
bed. With the current market conditions and a new CEO we're being asked
to economise. Actually I *could* have insisted on flying BA and I'm
sure my director would have signed it off, but I need to be a good
corporate citizen if I'm to pull in the extra few quid I need to
accomodate the cost of accomodation in London.
