At least it meant they weren't manning a hidden speed trap somewhere
    else.

<bitch mode> SO thinks another NIP letter [1] is winging its way to her
(or me, as she was driving my car at the time...)

Speed camera on stretch of road in Liverpool (west derby road) - limit
30, she was doing "about 37"..... The stretch is only 30 as it is next
to a school, speed camera was set up at about 1pm on a Sunday. Bloody
pointless, although I have seen police there loads of times and am
always looking out for them - she really should pay more attention as
they are not exactly difficult to notice - in fact last time I saw a
camera on that site it was accompanied by two large police vans so plod
    were not exactly being subtle.

[1] SO is expecting a NIP letter for doing an illegal U turn into
    roadworks.

  5. Unlucky, but no excuse really is there?
Seems like your SO is having an rough time of it - perhaps she should
    open her eyes a little?

Duly passed on! To be honest its one of those roads that you cannot
understand why the limit is that low - its a dual carrageway that goes
into single carrageway after about 2 miles and should really be a 40
    (IMHO)

Apart from the fact that there is a mixture of houses and shops on that
stretch of road, too. Which is probably a good enough reason for the
    30 limit.

  11. Apart from the fact that there is a mixture of houses and shops on that
This is heading down West Derby road after the Belmont Road/Shiel Road
junction (into town) Theres a school right at the end and housing on
the left (behind high fencing) and houses on the right (a few closes of
which only a few are accessable from the main road.) On that road
there are no shops or houses going straight onto the main road (dual
carraigeway), as far as I can tell. The speed camera was apparrently
almost opposite the fixed GATSO, probably trapping the people who
    routinely slow down for it!

You know the answer to that, though, don't you? Don't speed in a 30,
then you won't get caught.)

But they could not be sure it wasn't an illegal import, bought from a
back-street trader and had lots of nasty, spiky things to do damage to
    little eyes and ... tyres.

  14. You know the answer to that, though, don't you? Don't speed in a 30,
That is a fair point! Though it seems to be one of those roads where
you have to make a real effort to keep the speed at 30 - even at 35 you
seem to be plodding along. Then again if you go at anything below 30
you run the risk of having you wheels nicked.
