Sorry about that, I just had to pop out to the shops.

Yes, everything is perfectly fine. There's no black hole, and no savage
space aliens have emerged from a dimensional wormhole and taken over
Geneva. I expect the webcams will be working again shortly.

They're only at 2TeV at the moment anyway. Nothing new there.

    Collisions at 7TeV now.

How many trees do they have to plant to offset that then?

One, back in 780,000 BC, once they create the Time Vortex.

Something's up. Beam energy is still at 3.5TeV, but beam intensity just
by nearly an order of magnitude and collisions have stopped.

I haven't been watching this for the last 3 hours, honest. I switched
back to the page just as it happened.

You don't get collisions once the stargate is open.

  8. Emergency dumps, M'Lud. The beam isn't there, but the magnets are
still at the field that is needed for 3.5 TeV circulating beams.
A likely story, did you have prunes for breakfast?

The word emergency doesn't convey good things to me. What would
happen if they didn't dump, where do they dump to, and how unplanned
do things have to be to make it an emergency?

You've been to India, so I'd have thought you already knew everything
there is to know about emergency dumps.

Emergency dumps didn't enter into it, that trip was about fluid
    dynamics.

  13. Well, I think emergency as in, "Oops, this looks like it's going
unstable; better shunt that 24-knot aircraft carrier into the designated
mountain rather than let it run amok in our billion-dollar detectors!"
Trip points are set very conservatively at present -- I sensed a bit of
exasperation last weekend when apparently ATLAS initiated some dumps,
comments along the lines that the levels were 1000 times lower than where
damage might occur. (You didn't hear that from me, roight?)

I doubt he has time for it, what with his other stuff. Plus I don't see him
playing along with the promotional interviews as he would have to bin his
cynicism. I haven't watch Film 20xx for ages as its dull magazine format
fails to appeal. I know you aren't a fan of Radio 5 but MK's slot on the
Simon Mayo show works well as Mayo does the toadying interview with "big
star" and Kermode gets to take the piss. He does a good slot on the BBC
News Channel too, usually with Gavin Esler and makes some good
    recommendations for foreign films.

  16. Ditto. The man's a twat. Not that I agreed with or even liked Barry
Norman much, but at least he had a clue and a presentation style that
    didn't grate.

ai-ight. We've recently just finished series 4, and have just started
on Dexter series 4, but we'll almost certainly do The Wire S05
startight after. Then we've got this "Bones" thing and all the bloody
"West Wing" to get through. Life's too short, I tell ya.

Looking forward to watching "Only Angels Have Wings" which is on at
11:00 today on BBC2 - I generally try and avoid watching TV in the
daytime, but I'm going to make an exception for this.

All make regular appearances in casa de Switters. As does "get yo punk

I've almost finished a trawl through three series of Californication and
five of Weeds. Both worthy as distractions, though hardly unmissable.
