  2. You've got four houses? Blimey. And I thought The Doctor and I were
collecting them, with two going on three.

Oh, hang about. Two going on four. As you were.

You'll owe V a bunch for Chimay too then, most likely.

I still can't see any reason to bother taking the 10R.

Ah! So *that's* why F is reluctant to come to France.

Nothing to do with us at all.

    That's OK then.

FWIW, Mrs WUN says that the French Trip is "her idea of Hell", but is
perfectly content to stand at the end of the drive waving a hankie and
    fighting back the tears.

Until I'm out of sight, obviously. Then she scampers back inside and
starts hunting out the life insurance policies.

It's a year 2000 paint scheme, so that along with the 220mph speedo
suggests that it's a GSX1300RY model that didn't get get registered
    until 2002.

apparently not. Anyway, less than a week to go on that nonsense[1]
    anyway.

[1] it's supposed to remove anxiety, which it does up to a point, but
also to relieve alcohol withdrawel symptoms, which I simply don't have
    anyway[2]
[2] I'd given up drinking[3] about a week before being prescribed the
Librium, and hadn't had any problems.
[3] temporarily you understand, until I get the "month free from
alcohol liver function test" done around the 20th of this month.

I never understand why some people, both in the medical profession and
outside, are so reluctant to believe that others can take or leave
substances which are generally felt to be "addictive".

Alcohol is one such, and the current slew of adverts telling me how
much damage I could be doing by drinking more than
however_much_they_say per day really pisses me off. As do the ones
about the NHS smoking line - FFS, if you really want to stop smoking,
    just stop.

Similarly with morphine, although thankfully here at least the medics
generally seem to have it right, and accept that just because you're
using the stuff for a month or three doesn't mean you're likely to get
    addicted.

    well *ding*.

I like to have a drink, because I a) like the taste of decent booze &
    b) enjoy being a bit intoxicated[1]. But I know I could stop forever
if I wanted to. I mentioned to my consultant in the hospital that I'd
given up drinking for 4 months a year or so previously just to make
sure I still could and her answer was along the lines of "you're just
fooling yourself, you're an addict" which is a big load of
tautological wank. Look, bitch: I could give up if I wanted to but I
*don't* want to: deal with it.

I'm actually acting more of a spaz on the Librium than I would be on
say 4-5 pints of Leffe - I can't hardly walk in a straight line FFS
and my speech slurs within an hour or so of taking a dose.

    I don't have an "addictive personality"[2] - I'm basically just a
hedonist who (usually) knows his limits.

I'll say something for prescription medicine, mind; the 200mg of
Thiamine HCL I'm taking a day has certainly put a spring in my mental
processes - I'm thinking more clearly than I can remember in a long
time, just the Librium doesn't let me express it properly ;-).

[1] and yes, I know sometimes I overdo it. But so **** - nature has
blessed me with a metabolism that doesn't get hangovers.

[2] I've tried pretty much everything that you don't have to
inject[3], and apart from decent booze, none of it has been
particularly "more-ish". Well, except oral morphine, but that was
prescribed, and even then, I didn't go begging for more when the
    course was finished.

[3] was on stomach-injected Warfarin for a while - what a waste of
time that was - no fun at all!

Don't you think that houses are a bucketload of hassle. Even more than SOB.
Have they finished propping up your crumbling London pile or are you just
waiting for the next 5+ rumble.

No; my first reaction when I saw it was 2002 with the 220 speedo was
that it might not be as straight as it looks, but the colour scheme is
2000 and that matches up with the speedo, so as a 2000 it might actually
be worth more than a 2002...

That said, having gone out for my first "proper" ride tonight (35 miles
or so), I'd suggest that the restriction on the later bikes isn't really
    anything to worry about.

I think the chain issue's now sorted - it's not as spangly new as I
thought and I suspect it all looks clean as a consequence of a pressure
wash rather than from newness. Bit of lube and a run has made a lot of
difference. Brakes are better for some use too.

Only problem now is keeping the licence and not sounding like Nige every
    time I open the tap.
