  1. ...after many years, I've found a suitably curved tuit and booked ferry
crossings to & from Pahnd Island for a very long weekend for the Manx GP.

This is sort of a taster: mostly practice days but includes the
    Saturday's racing.

Now all I need to do is sort out accommodation. As I'm taking an 0845
return ferry, I guess somewhere in or near Douglas would be easiest. I
had a look for a nice, cheap, impersonal chain, but it seems they don't
have such things as Travelodge or Premier Inn on the Island.

    Don't rule out 'homestay'.

I've done it lots of times. The place we used in the outskirts of
Douglas for the Manx the last three times was better than most B&Bs.
Unfortunately they were already booked up for this years TT. En suite
rooms with TV, splendid breakfast. No bar, and a fair walk to the
nearest pub I'll grant you, but when you walk in to your digs and find
there's a grand piano in the hall it augers well.

We're hoping the place we've managed to find up in Andreas is going to
    be OK.
