Fireblades

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Kevin Gleeson, Jun 7, 2010.

  1. OK, having a discussion with a pom that works with me here in Sydney.

He claims that there was a 600 that was badged as a Fireblade.

I reckon it was just a nickname. I have never seen a CBR600RR badged
    as a Fireblade.

Am I wrong? Or was it just a pom badging. I can't say I have ever seen
one here that is badged as Fireblade. We've called 250RRs Babyblades,
and I think they may have been badged lately as Fireblades, but it is
hard to tell whether someone has just chucked a Fireblade sticker on.
Google doesn't give me a definitive answer so what do I get from the
    FOAK on these groups?

    I've always considered a Fireblade a CBR900RR or CBR1000RR.

The CBR600F was also nicknamed the GOOF (600F)...

sort of suited most Honda riders :)

I'm no expert, but ISTR the 400 owned by a lady I knew had a 'blade logo.

Does anyone care about disposable motorcycles?
Call 'em what you like. They evaporate so fast the name doesn't really
    matter anyway.

  6. Yeah - but I have a $50 bet on it. I'm interested. I cross-posted to
uk.rec as I thought maybe they were marked as Fireblades there but I
was positive they weren't here. As I was leaving work last night a
CBR600RR pulled out of a driveway right next to me and in the short
time I had before he rode off up the street, I'm damned if I could see
    any Frieblade logo on it.

I've heard the Babyblade designation for the 250 before. And I guess
there is nothing stopping someone buying a blade sticker and putting
    it on anything.

But I still think I am right. The 600 was never sold here as a
    Fireblade.

He's a fucking idiot. The 600 was never, ever, labelled as a
    Fireblade.

Couple of times on trackdays people have mistaken my ginger CBR600 for
a 97/98 model Fireblade. They've got quite embarrassed when I've
pointed out it's only a 600 and it still took them like they were going
    backwards

  10. I have a friend who has a Hurricane, but it may be a 750 or a 1000cc, not
sure, but I will look later

It's often called '600 Fireblade' in the UK but I don't remember ever
seeing a 600 badged that way. FWIW, it's also nicknamed the FairyBlade in
some markets and it *definitely* wasn't badged as that! Cheers

Must have had the engine replaced, a factory-spec Hurricane would have had
    a 27 litre engine.

Bloody cheap modern rubbish - my GS1100G had 82000 showing when I sold it
and the *replacement* odo had only been working intermittently for around
6 years. It'd art least 320,000 on the original engine by now and the new
owner can still get erm... let's see... what's the freeway speed limit +
the default urban limit + about 20ish.... :)

    Wow 150,000km; that'd be like 5-or-6 YEARS ownership !!!
That seems incredibly long for a Fireblade.......
