Got the pads today for the R1, he suggested putting new fluid in & trying
them out before buying the Brembo radial (I am buying it from him) He did
    suggest re-vavling & re-springing the forks. I'm obviously not gonna get a
Maxton job done, but he does tons of forks for older R1's & he reckons it's
    a remarkable difference.

There was a steady stream of folk picking up re-done forks today.

Never done owt with forks before, advice?

    He quotes around £175 for re-valved & re-sprung..

You're not short of a bob or two. As others have said, why don't you
just go out and buy the bike you want ?

Seems you want a newer R1, Mr Yamaha has already incorporated most of
    the mods you crave ;)
