I want to get my 2000 Kawasaki GPX250 serviced but not sure where to
go. I live in melbournes eastern subs. This is my first bike and was
serviced just before I got it, so this will be my first time getting
it done. Anyone have an idea at what sort of $$$ I am looking at for a
service (done 10,000km) and where to go?

    Cheers,

services on GPX are in 6 K increments

    not much to service anyway

get hold of a manual and jump in yourself , quite easy on the GPX

I'd have thought that anyone who took 6 weeks to author such a lame response
to a posting would have put a little more effort into it... but if that's the
best effort you can muster, I guess it'll have to do. Maybe you could ask
    Biggus for some help.

I replaced the camchain on The Jackal yesterday, and it now makes a
nice "fzzzz!" noise instead of the previous
    "clickety-clickety-clickety" one.

I suspect that I'm 1 tooth out on the timing though, as the revs don't
die off cleanly when I back off the throttle, and it's a bit down on
    power. I'll fix it tonight.

Nah, it's just that the manual says the chain should look like this on
    the sprockets:

    http://www.otherpower.com/images/scimages/236/camchain.gif

....but when I had 33 pins worth of chain between the "EX" and "IN"
marks I couldn't get them both to line up level with the top of the
head. I went with the "both marks lined up with the head" setting,
which seems to have not been quite right.

Still, no harm done, and it'll just take me a couple of hours to
remove all the parts and put it right. *shrug*
