Triple is coming up for it's third birthday 12th (IIRC) of next month

Should I get some kind of reminder to get an MOT?

I usually find that renewing the tax reminds me to get an mot done. ;-)

Indeed, but for the first three years, it doesn't need one

  9. Less frequent MoTs would save millions for motorists
    See http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-2477478,00.html
review of EU red tape suggested that it was unnecessarily burdensome.
The study found that Britain's 22 million motorists would save £465 million
a year if they had the MoT test less frequently, and that there would be no
obvious decrease in road safety. Treasury officials said that they would
consult police and road safety groups before going ahead with the reform and
that it would take about a year to come into effect. <

  10. Bound to be something in it for them, I agree. The NCT in Ireland is
done every two years, but it's v. strict and costs more than an MoT.
Seems to work well enough, apart from the numpties in some test centres
failing cars for utterly trivial things, like not having the rear seat
    belt ends on display.

Whoa. I've done it once without MOTing it. Is the Post office going to
refuse today because it's *first* MOT is due on the 23rd Of December?
    That's gonna be *real* PITA

The renewal form will list documents required, usually MOT and
insurance. The tax issuer (P.O. or website) simply won't issue the tax
    disc if you don't.

In fact, IIRC the MOT has to be valid on the day the tax is to start,
    though this won't affect you.

It affected me thoough when I rocked up at a post office with a
current, valid MOT that expired before the start of the month the tax
    was due.

Which was the question I was trying to get answered at this point. All
