Well i took a pillion to the city tonight and home again who was bigger than
    10kg's!

I have pillioned my son since he was 3 and he is use to sitting on the bike
and not moving, I must say I dont really notice him either on the back!

My first thing on the ride to the city i noticed was that i could reach the
ground on the blade a lot better. Obiviously the weight of the pillion made
    the soft suspension even squisher!

One of my biggest fears with pillioning was that i would not be able to
reach the ground and hold the bike upright if i was required to. Tonight i
found out how wrong i was.

I wasn't game enough to ride with her on the back into southbank but when we
left i was feeling confident enough to try. It was good to know i can slow
ride with a pillion if i need to :)

I still would not take anyone bigger than myself, am going to stick to the
rule that anyone i pillion has to be the same size as me but i am definately
not as fearful of taking a pillion anymore. I think even to the point now
that my little sister is living with us I might practise some more.

I noticed on the ride in that the bike wallowed a bit more and that more
wrist control was required but on the trip home i didn't notice this at all.
I guess i had adjusted to the extra weight, wind resistance on the way home,
also i was using my knees more to stablise the bike instead of relaying on
    my wrists/arms.

My pillion informed me that i was very stiff on the cornering at the
beginning of the journey and when i took a corner, whilst actually cornering
instead of going around it straight it took her off guard! This was near the
end of the journey and i was adjusting to the weight and steering
capabilities of the blade. The trip home she was prepared for me to start
    cornering :)

So overall not a bad experience, considering i have been riding for 2 years
on a full lisence and this is the first time i have taken a pillion.

    Cat's got a little sister?!!?
I think you should practice pillioning a little more Cat: I suggest a short
    trip to Mildura in June.
