    Who gives a shit.

    I did 170mph on a single-carriageway A road this afternoon. I was
wearing lid, gloves, leather jacket, jeans and trainers.

I just rode my bike in shorts, T-shirt and sandals - admittedly I was
just moving it from my driveway to my garage.

In Malta this week I saw a guy wearing the same sort of things get off
a 2008 ZX10R and remove his 500 quid Arai - not a difficult thing to do
as he'd cut the straps out of it. Two minutes earlier me and my cousin
had watched from a distance as he howled up a bit of dual carriageway
    at well over a ton.

I only did 150, and I was wearing full leathers - but I'm at least 50% more
incompetent than you, so that makes me tougher.

    Or something.

The biggest cause of injury in motorcycle accidents isn't lack of
    protective clothing. Its motorcycle accidents.

Once you start being a safety nazI and saying people shouldn't ride
bikes without a,b,c or d then its far more logical to say they
shouldn't ride bikes in the first place.

Nah, they should make crashing bikes a capital offence. If you stack it and
can't leg it before the 'ambulance' crew get there then you get pretty much
the same treatment as a racehorse with a broken leg.

No strain on the NHS there, Darwin in action and just think of the money
    saved on paramedic training ...

"Can you use a bolt gun?
    "Yeah, guess so"
    "Great - here's your ambulance"

Sorry, I didn't realise the term "squid" refered to an actual
    cephalopod.

Although what a marine invertebrate chooses to ride a bike in is his
    own business.

Hope you're wearing a helmet while back-pedaling at that sort of speed.

I've done 160 in shorts and tshirt numerous times.

On a bike with D207s fitted.

I even crashed in shorts and tshirt. And hit a brick wall. Hurt a bit,
    that.

    I'm dead now, mind.

As one of a few folk who can state, pretty much uncategorically, that
their lives were saved by wearing protective clothing[1] I certainly
can't disagree with that. But if anyone had ever tried to force me to
wear leathers, proper boots, gloves and back protector every time I
wanted to ride I'd have told them to shove it up their arse.

I still don't agree with the helmet and seatbelt laws, although it's
very rare that I'd choose to ride/drive without them. But in principle
    the choice must be mine.

And just so you bunch of cunts know, a 'first swallow of the summer' post
doesn't mean I think that swallows should be banned.

I'm pretty sure that risk compensation applies and, for example, someone in
shorts is less likely to get his knee down.

    Oh, I can beat that:

Yesterday afternoon, on the A10 near Bush Hill Park:

    blue/white R1, shorts, t-shirt, trainers *no* helmet.

  20. The "bi" in "bike" means it has 2 wheels. "Quad" means it has 4 wheels,
so not a bike at all.
