The fastest lap for Gibernau was on lap 13 of his 22; Rossi on lap 14 of
his 22 & Hayden on 17 of his 25.
What is going on? I don't think these guys are trying too hard, yet.

1st Qualifier is about to run - this could be a different story.

Ooops, according to the Live Timing heading the 2nd MotoGP session now
running is FP2.
Has the Practice schedule changed this year?

Yes - there's only one official qualifying session now, on Saturday
afternoon. All the others are "free practise".

 

In the first session? No, they're looking for setup. The large
spread of times (apart from the top two) shows that everyone is still
looking.
