Just went to feed them, & the big fella was laying on the ground a couple of feet from the pond. Thought he must've been dead, but then he moved his mouth, so I'm bunged him back in the water, & he slowly came back to life - kinda. Swimming around slowly but not looking too happy. No sign of damage so I guess he jumped out - I have seen him try a few times when the water level was lower. Hope he survives, I'll miss the old bugger if he dies. <space left blank for Rainbow Bridge> -- Krusty '03 Tiger 955i '02 MV Senna (for sale) '96 Tiger (for sale) '79 Fantic Hiro 250 (for sale) '81 Corvette (for sale)

Goldfish and their ilk usually only start jumping when they want to get away from the water they're in for some reason. Hate to say I told you so...
He's always done it. I think he's after the insects on the plants around the pond. -- Krusty '03 Tiger 955i '02 MV Senna (for sale) '96 Tiger (for sale) '79 Fantic Hiro 250 (for sale) '81 Corvette (for sale)
AIUI, so long as their gills remain wet, they can continue to "breathe" for a while out of water. Hardy little fuckers, carp. But maybe you should invest in a lungfish.
