FJ carb diaphragms

I think the diaphragms are going on my FJ. I took the tops off last week
to inspect them - I'm getting a slightly rough idle.

They look OK-ish, although you can see the rub marks where they pucker
up. They don't *look* like they're leaking, but I'm not convinced
    they're not.

It's done more than the expected mileage for these anyway, 55k on the
clock now, and the diaphragms are supposed to need doing at 40k.

I do know these things are fucking expensive, any idea where to get
these done reasonably, or indeed if a different set of carbs might be a
better option - I do know the float pivot pins are worn too.

    Any offers?

Victoria Station Manchester. NP carbs (www.nrp-carbs.co.uk). About half the
price of OEM and twice as good. He (Andy) uses much better
neoprene/rubber/smeg/whatever than Kawasaki did on my VN carbs and he's a
    personable chappie too.

tis ok, I didn't know he'd finally got his website sorted. <goes to
    add it to the faq>

you're right about him being a personable chappie, I knew him from my
local before I knew about NRP or indeed his leather repair business.

don't ever try his vodka. its proper polish stuff.

I met him a few years ago in Walkden (about 10 mile from Voc Station) at a
bike emporium. He apparently does ALL the carbs for Rob's emporium. I think
he does leather alterations and always has a good stock of 2nd hand cool
    looking leathers too.
Not something that's likely to pass my lips, particularly after the peach
flavoured acetone Owen was bandying about at BoSM.

Doesn't surprise me on bit. He's pretty quick off the mark too, so you're
not likely to be waiting for weeks.

  16. I ordered new diaphragms off him for the Z400 twin that I eventually
sold to Petrolcan. IIRC Kawasaki ones were £75 *each*.

His were £80 a pair, and turnaround time was a week. You have to send
    him the original carb slides.

Aye, mine are £85 each for the originals, the OC does a set for £136,
his are £124 for the set.

It's not running too bad for now, and the economy is OK, so I'll plan to
do this on my next week off when I don't have to commute.

The ones for the VN were 56 quid each from Kwak, I rode to his shop with a
sample and he pulled out a replacement pair for 27 quid each.
He likes to fit them so they don't get borked by hamfisted numpties. He did
    mine:)
