This is for you 'older' guy's I suppose!

Does anyone ever remember Brad Lackey racing flat-track?
Only thing I can find on him refers Moto-X . But a friend of mine is
    convinced he raced flat-track???

Given what is said about him in the Hall-of-Fame web-site,..training &
racing in Europe,.in the 70's-80's winning the National & then the
    World,..& all that.
I can't imagine he would have even had the time.

    R P asks:

Certainly possible but I wasn't on the west coast back then.
For certain he ran some "scrambles" as they were still more
popular than MX when he started racing, I think.

I recall seeing him spectating at the Ashland vintage flat track last
    year, if that means anything.

R P reminds me I just wrote a vintage MX ride report so here it is:::

    Vintage Bikes Suck

Well dang. Took the mightly C&J SL341 out to George's.
Won moto one at Smith Road, albeit with only one other guy
in the class that's not so great. Still, beat most of the Bomber guys
    too.

Second moto was dicing for 4th Bomber, thought I had the guy until
at the last second I realized that there is no way to outbrake a disc
brake anything from 3rd gear flat out with a '73 Elsinore front
brake. When he didn't shut off for another couple feet, I hit him
and went over his rear wheel. Luckily didn't knock him down.

I, on the other hand, broke the end of my pipe off, broke my clutch
lever, and finally got it running and moving again as Alex went by
and beat me for the Vintage class. At first I thought I could
get him but then it started running really bad and there was no way.

Got home, cleaned the bike and noticed that the kill switch was
    broken.
Maybe that's all that's wrong! Kicked it twice, second time it kicked
back HARD. Heard a "ting" sound and a 3" long 5mm bolt fell on
the ground next to the bike. Broken just at the end of the threads.

    Huh?

I finally found where it came from - the cases (split horizontally)
    right by the kicker.

    Infuckingcredible.

I think this is pretty close to the truth. It would have been
    difficult to
not race both in that era.I'll ask my dad -- he knows Brad from back
    in
    the day.

The 'Vintage Bikes Suck' thing has to be a joke.

    rich.trim jokes:
I wish. I'd just swap lower ends with the one out of
the stock frame but this one has a stroker crank.
With the big hicomp piston, the roller cam, and
the Mr.Cylinder head work, it's as fast as a decent
250 Elsinore and WAY more tractable.

Another winter project. It's sitting till then as there
weren't any more vintage MX on my calendar this
year anyway. At least one supermoto, a couple
dual sport rides, an enduro, and American Supercamp
    though.
