I've only seen it a couple of times - depending on the configuration of
the pipes involved, I spose.

 

The first time I saw it wass in a block of flats i Hong Kong in a
typhoon (or possibly a near-miss; it was long ago)

As a teenager I pot it down to the over-dramatic reason that the
building was rocking; it certainly felt like it.

These days I simply put it down to varying air pressure in the
bathroom.

 

Odd sight on the IOD this morning ... the hoardings all around
(~250yds a side) a demolition site had been knocked flat, with the
exception of the two that formed the site gate - which were held
firmly closed by a stout chain and padlock.
