    Mick Whittingham says...
Michelin Macadams = no grip = no friction = tyre stays on rim.

777s must be fitted with them.

As the URL suggests, crosswind landing tests with the trials aircraft, by
the look of it, and I'd say Wichita. (Been there, of course. Shall I mention
food now?) That 777 is flying with Cathay Pacific now.

Dvorak's "New World Symphony", just on the off chance you didn't know.

that's not bad at all - we get 27 + stat days, and to be honest, I
struggle to take them all; in fact, I've worked 4 day weeks for the
last couple of month's just to use up all of 2006's allocation.

where are you working now, anyway?

    darsy, Jan 20, 2007
  6. Only because you're at work for 14 hours a day anyway. No wonder no one
would argue with you about a few extra days holiday to try to redress
    the balance.
29 days plus statutory holidays. Not enough in my opinion.

We were recently sent an on line questionnaire at work about flexible
working. This was from both the viewpoint of me as a manager and also as
an individual employee. I was in favour of far more flexible working
arrangements but I doubt we'll see them implemented properly.

26 days, now I've been here 5yrs.. it was 25.

Also we can buy and sell holiday under a flexible benefits package,
buying up to 10, or selling up to 5. The downside is you have to decide
how much you want to buy or sell within a 2 week window each year,
rather than as you need it.

I've got 6 days to use before the end of March that I carried over
from last year and then I've got 28 plus stats to be going along with.
I'd like more but when I asked for paid 'rest days' if I've been away
for more than 14 consecutive days I was told to **** off.

I theory I also get stand down pay if we're not busy and they tell me
to stay at home for a couple of days but the reality is that I'm the
last one to get this because of my position in the company.

Some of our employees are currently working 2 weeks of dayshift, 1
week of nightshift and then 1 week of stand down. The only weekend
working involved is a Sunday night instead of the Friday night but
that's their choice because they get paid more and get Friday night on
the piss if they want it. Obviously they still get the usual holiday
entitlement so if this work pattern continues all year they're going
to have a lot of time off.

  11. You mean it's changed in Oz and NZ to mean a Scotsman? I can't see where
that would have come from, tbh, unless it's a coincidence and some other
circumstance led to the word Geordie being coined for a Scotsman.

Well, we get 28 to start with and I've got an additional two due to
length of service (10 years plus...). In the past I've struggled to
take them all but managed bar half a day this year, it did require
booking some days pointlessly though. However I'm coming to the slow
conclusion that I've needed to mellow a little with work for some time.

Actually I don't any longer. My working day is generally about 8:30 to
18:30 or 19:00, possibly going to the gym for an hour or so at the end
    of the day.

  18. If brevity is the soul of wit, that explains why you're so verbose!
