  1. They'd be very obliging, once you'd stumped up for the extra ticket for it.

took a blunt brush and painted...
    Where do you put it?

Last time I was on a SqueezyJet flight it was packed, everyone had brought
their regulation sized item of hand luggage with them and it was very clear
that was all the overhead compartments could hold, and no more.

A couple of fussy 50~60yr old biddies had bought more than one piece and the
flight assistants were trying to find somewhere to put them, and failing.

They did try to crush a few people squishy luggage up but were soon told to
leave well alone and do their job by throwing the excess luggage out of the
    door.

    Oh how I laughed.

Don't they force you to put ALL luggage in the overhead compartments now?

That's what happened to the last flight I was on and they just haven't got
    enough storage space.

Not when we flew in October. Over head or under the seat in front if
applicable, which might end up the same thing.

OTOH we were certainly not short of space. I carry on case plus one
laptop each was allowed. We had two rucksacks with change of clothes
and my lappy and we still had loads of room.

One item of hand luggage only out of Stansted/Gatwick/Heathrow,
especially the no frills guys, with Ryanair being the most anal, even
    about hand luggage weight.

Handbags (for those that carry them) need to go into the 1 item of
hand luggage, they can't be carried separate. Laptop bag counts as
your 1 item of hand luggage, they're not counted separate or
additional to an allowance. I have seen some business types winging it
with a suit bag and a laptop though

If your hand luggage looks oversize, i've seen it measured and weighed
    at check in.

If I take a lid on a flight, I carry it in a rucksac with the rest of
my bits and bobs, so it's still 1 item. It's a bit bulky, but less
likely to be pulled up on the 'no more than 1 bag' rule.

I'm flying every week or so ATM, so the subject is pretty close to me.

    HTH,

    Paul.

We came back on BA yesterday: two helmets connected by chinstraps and a
tankbag. The lids went in the lockers, and the tankbag under the seat in
    front.

So you had to sit with your knees scrunched up underneath you then?
    Sounds painful.
