    Dear fount,

What's this bit for on an (old) AGP card?

I've inherited an old G4 mac which I'm trying to upgrade and the
existing 64MB card's not shifting the pixels quickly enough on a 22" TFT
monitor. So I figured dropping a 256MB nVidia card in there. I've got
one in a PC, but it doesn't have the little dohickey highlighted on the
above link. Also, when I drop it into the MAC, it tries to power up as
soon as the card is inserted (and fails naturally).

I suspect I've got to find an AGP card with the extra tab, but all the
one's I've seen so far don't have this.

    It's a G4 Quicksilver Dual 800MHz BTW.

    Cheers in advance

I don't have specific knowledge on the matter but since nobody else has
answered, I'll state the probably obvious that Apple would be loathe to
allow just any pleb-PC card to be installed in its precious computers. AFAIK
you need a Mac-Edition of a graphics card, which means that you pay about
30% more for that little (probably half-useless) thingy that's on your
    existing card.

Cheers all (Geo, Eddie and Jim).

Looks like I'm trawling for a Mac-specific-end-of-AGP-lifespan card.

Anyone got any Holy Grails or Crocks of Gold they need picking up whilst
    I'm en-route? ;)
