Progress on the farm continues but it is time to introduce hygiene: if
a man wanted a decent bath where might he get it? I have tried these
    guys:

    http://www.bathstore.com/

and I'm looking at a couple of local plumbers' merchants. Any other
    suggestions?

Define decent. I want a Kohler Sok but it's a tad out of my price range.

Go and see the baths and try them for size/shape before you buy. They
    vary - a lot.

Bathstore are OK for looking, as are Wickes, B&Q etc., but we found
local plumbers merchants more knowledgable than the 16-year old spotty
    oiks in Bathstore etc.

A shower bath that won't fall apart in a year or two. I too like
Kohler but my price range doesn't stretch that far either.

    I've always used:

    http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/

    For online plumbing related stuff.

    Despite Cane's reservarions:

    http://groups.google.co.uk/group/uk....rec.motorcycles+author:Cane#2e8515590fb800da

They have always been prompt and given good service, to me.

are what I was talking about the other week - high quality kit and can be
    ordered by any decent installer.

Plumbers merchants are the best by far. I fit bathrooms for a living. Do
not buy from B+Q/Wickes et al. They usually sell crap. I fitted 2 B+Q
bathroom suites last year, and both were rubbish, damaged when
delivered, parts missing, and see-through baths.
Go for one of the 'big' makes, Armitage Shanks, Ideal Std., Roca etc,
and you wont go far wrong.
Bathstore look good at times, with reasonable prices, but having never
seen there stuff, I couldnt comment on quality, but with their marketing
budget so high, I wouldnt expect top quality for the price they charge.

My local Plumbers are doing an Armitage P shaped bath, with shower
scree, basin, pedestal and bog for £340. It is bloody good. The basin and
bog are old designs, very plain, but at that price for the suite, I
    think it is excellent value.

I had a look in Homebase and thought the savings weren't worth what it
would end up costing in aggravation.

My feelings exactly. Zero customer service and questionable quality.

Certainly not. Though I believe it is considered
impolite to use one of their display showers as
    an impromptu bidet, though.

In my past life as a care worker, about 10 years ago I was in B&Q with a
    client.

I turned my back for a second and upon turning around I found him
sitting on a display toilet with his trousers around his ankles.

It wasn't a piss he had.

I don't think I've ever left a shop so quickly.

  19. We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Chas" <Me@Home> saying something
    like:

Yep. The cheapshit baths are a pain to fit well and rely entirely on
extra bracing and anchoring to feel in any way solid.
I always fill the bath before I seal around it.
