FOAK: broken studs

    I've got hold of some Blue Point ones that aren't the usual camembert
    left hand tapered screw thing.

    These are square section, with a hardened flute down each side of the
    square. I'm sure they'll come in handy, someday ..

    Yeah, i've got a load of them, but probably cross head rather than
    socket head. Drop me a line.

    No need for that, when the stud evacuated the hole, it took most of the
    thread with it. Trying to bodge the new stud in (OEM Ace hardware, as the
    local Suzuki place kinda sorta hadn't got around to looking at their
    Internet orders yet) and tightening that to the specified 10Nm took care
    of the remainder of the thread. Helicoil time, and I'll have to check
    with the local dirt bike empornium if they have the kit. Should have,
    the PO can't be the only hamfisted owner around here.

    OTOH it was amazing to see how much of a difference half an hour of
    going around the bike, lubricating things that should move and bolting
    down things that shouldn't makes.
