FOAK: Disc Space

One of my PCs keeps running out of disk space. Even when I free up
half a gig by removing old programs withing a few days it seems to
have eaten it up again. WTF is going on?

 

The system history restoration is very memory hungry.

 

Try http://www.ccleaner.com/

This will clean out all the crap (temp) files stored on the pc. Hense being
called Crap Cleaner.

Best of all, its free

Maybe worth a try right click c drive then properties, and click on Disk
Cleanup. You'd be suprised how much this can free up space (but can take a
little while depending how big the hard drive is)

 

Stop downloading pr0n.

a script kiddie is storing paedo pr0n in between the disk sectors on
your computer.

What a fab little program. I'm at work now but I ran it on my PC here
and cleared a gig of rubbish.

Up to the limit of how much disc space you[1] have told it to use - yes.

[1] Or - more accurately - it has calculated you can do without.

 

http://windirstat.info/ - shows you in a nice little picture, hover
over the obscenly large squares and it tells you the location at the
bottom. Click on one and it takes you to it in the file explorer above
the pic.

If you click a directory, it'll outline it in the picture and show you
how big that directory is in relation to everything else. Well worth
trying, very small and free.
