Sons about to go to teesside Uni next week and we can't get onto the website
( http://www.teesside.ac.uk/ )unless we use a proxy (Tor-proxy or similar)
or a T-mobile broadband dongle. We're with Virgin as our broadband (ADSL)
providers on a BT line using a BT Voyager 2100 ADSL modem/wireless router.

Teesside say they can't help, they don't block particular ISP's, Virgin
    don't have a clue ....

Doesn't matter which browser we use, IE8, Firefox, Opera Chrome etc etc all
basically say "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and suggest
it's our connection that's the problem.

Although we have the workarounds it'd be way easier to just get onto the
website as although we can get to the website, Tom can't actually log on
properly when using a proxy, though he can when logging on via the Tmobile
dongle. For a while when we were first enquiring we could get to the
website and indeed Tom logged on and registered all the original
paraphernalia, but for reasons unknown (obviously) we now can't. Nothing I
know of has changed in any of the computers we've tried (two desktops and
five laptops of various speeds/flavours, XP and Linux) or in our
    router/broadband connection.

Anyone any idea what we can do to resolve this please?

Weird. tees.ac.uk from that link won't play on my box.
If, however, you use the teesside URL it does and then any change of
page resolves back to a http://www.tees.ac.uk/ url.

    traceroute www.teeside.co.uk

Looks like there's might be something wrong with their internal system
as the traceroute to tees.ac.uk fails in their internal network AFAICT.

    Pings here fine.

    CatmanMac:~ Catman$ ping www.teesside.ac.uk/
    PING www.teesside.ac.uk/ (81.200.64.50): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 81.200.64.50: icmp_seq=0 ttl=57 time=52.114 ms

Or actually it *did*. It now times out.

I suspect they have a load balanced system that is having some issues.

I'm on Virgin - and both IE and Firefox display the site OK.

    So, NRH, I'm afraid.

Given that it gets to tees-site1 etc etc I'm reasonably sure the problem
    is at their end.

Neither really, just a bit of cross-thread piss taking due to all the
    Pauls having (apparent) DNS issues.

Tell 'em that they've fucked up on their DNS management and web server
    redirections.
