FOAK: Laptop coolers?

On the slim offchance someone here has got one or had need to use one,
what do you think?

My advent 8115 has often (though not until the warranty ran out of
course) started to simply turn off, and I would notice it would only do
it when fairly warm.

Then I noticed that it had a sticker on the bottom that actually states
you should not place the laptop on your lap while operating!! FFS.

Anyway, im tired of balancing one end of the notebook on a book on a
slant to allow circlulation of enough air and thought it may be (or may
not be) worth investing in a cooler to get round this?

It's a home laptop so is rarely taken anywhere so the portability isnt
an issue as such.

So, any recommendations at all??

Sounds like my 8 year old Fu-Sie laptop. Stupid thing has an air intake on
the base.

Since mum moved out I've been using her TV dinner tray. It's great for the
netbook or laptop. It's a tea tray with a bean bag glued on the base, so
you can tilt it to the angle you want. Wilkinsons etc will have them.

 

Nick one of the kids annuals.

 

Give it a fucking blast with an airline?
